OTA Live is Canada's first Urban variety show. Featuring cultured hosts and the best Urban music ever created, OTA Live promises to entertain and educate about the music, the culture and the artists. Playing everything from Boot Camp to BLACKStreet, OTA Live features a diverse array of musical selections guaranteed to please the purists as well as the un-initiated. Featuring current and classic Urban gems, OTA bridges the gap between generations by playing music that played a significant role in the development of Hip Hop culture, and connects current Urban music with the crucial movements of the 90's.
OTA Live features:
UBX (The Unauthorized Biography):
A weekly pre-produced biography segment, detailing an artists recorded works and their life surrounding that work, while touching on the musical climate of the time as well. Featuring 3 segments, 3 songs and lots of sound clips, this 20-25 minute spotlight dives into an artist's life like never before. UBX is a fast paced, informative and sonically driven look into the music, and behind it.
The Burn (Mixshow with The Boogeyme'n from the Soundquest Crew):
One of Canada's most respected DJ's, Boogeyme'n joins the OTA family every week to bless the turntables with his 30 minute mixshow. Regarded as the prototype "DJ's DJ", Boogeyme'n has over 15 years of DJ'ing experience and is one of few DJ's to play on FLOW's staple Mid-Day and Traffic FLOW mix-shows. One of the country's most innovative DJ's, Boogeym'en has played live-to-air on FLOW every Friday night for over 3 years, and brings a wealth of musical knowledge to OTA Live.
Cell Therapy:
An editorial piece to wrap up every show, Cell Therapy is a chance for Ty, rez or any other guest on the show to share their opinion on any social, political or musical issue on their mind that week. Concentrating on the relationship these issues have with hip hop culture, Cell Therapy deals with varying topics like: artists as role models, why people don't dance in the clubs anymore, gun violence etc...Cell Therapy is a forum to express a point of view, in a concise, credible and entertaining manner without sounding preachy.
MegaCity Classic/Sleeper:
A bonafide Canadian classic track followed by one that might not have received "classic" status, but should.
