"Are we on-the-air"? Yes you are!"

OTA Live is Canada's first Urban variety show. Featuring cultured hosts and the best Urban music ever created, OTA Live promises to entertain and educate about the music, the culture and the artists. Playing everything from Boot Camp to BLACKStreet, OTA Live features a diverse array of musical selections guaranteed to please the purists as well as the un-initiated. Featuring current and classic Urban gems, OTA bridges the gap between generations by playing music that played a significant role in the development of Hip Hop culture, and connects current Urban music with the crucial movements of the 90's.

OTA Live features:

UBX (The Unauthorized Biography):
A weekly pre-produced biography segment, detailing an artists recorded works and their life surrounding that work, while touching on the musical climate of the time as well. Featuring 3 segments, 3 songs and lots of sound clips, this 20-25 minute spotlight dives into an artist's life like never before. UBX is a fast paced, informative and sonically driven look into the music, and behind it.

The Burn (Mixshow with The Boogeyme'n from the Soundquest Crew):
One of Canada's most respected DJ's, Boogeyme'n joins the OTA family every week to bless the turntables with his 30 minute mixshow. Regarded as the prototype "DJ's DJ", Boogeyme'n has over 15 years of DJ'ing experience and is one of few DJ's to play on FLOW's staple Mid-Day and Traffic FLOW mix-shows. One of the country's most innovative DJ's, Boogeym'en has played live-to-air on FLOW every Friday night for over 3 years, and brings a wealth of musical knowledge to OTA Live.

Cell Therapy:
An editorial piece to wrap up every show, Cell Therapy is a chance for Ty, rez or any other guest on the show to share their opinion on any social, political or musical issue on their mind that week. Concentrating on the relationship these issues have with hip hop culture, Cell Therapy deals with varying topics like: artists as role models, why people don't dance in the clubs anymore, gun violence etc...Cell Therapy is a forum to express a point of view, in a concise, credible and entertaining manner without sounding preachy.

MegaCity Classic/Sleeper:
A bonafide Canadian classic track followed by one that might not have received "classic" status, but should.

Ty Harper

Ty Harper
Ty Harper is one of those dudes you meet that speaks very little on what he does unless asked directly. He’s the guy who, when you see him, makes you say to yourself “I know this dude..but from where?”. Born and raised in Malvern until his parents took the family to Trinidad to live for 8 years, Ty is one of the lucky ones that got the best of both cultures. Working in Hmv 333’s “Bassment” was another lucky opportunity that helped in his growth and appreciation for music. Starting at Flow 93.5 as a board-operator lead to his meeting rez DigitaL who was a member of TeamFlow. After realizing rez’s similar interest in becoming a personality, Ty pitched him the idea for OTA Live and the rest was history. rez’s production-savy abilities clicked with Ty’s vision for a show that did more than just play the songs. With a drive to provide and balance the culture of hiphop with the culture of Toronto, Ty hopes to be a pioneer among the likes of Ron Nelson, Paul E. Lopes and Master T, all of whom he considers “Godfathers” of the Toronto hiphop movement. For Ty nothing is more important than respecting their sacrifices and building the heart of Toronto’s culture through music. If OTA Live is his first venture to that goal, he’s on the right track.

Boogeyme'n

Boogeyme'n
The Boogeyme’n represents The Sound Quest crew. A collective of hiphop deejays that has seen the likes of Dr. Jay, Toronto house icon Mike Stitchon and others pass through its ranks. Started in the late 80’s by Frank and Joey Condo, The Boogeyme’n along with Max B. joined the crew in 94. He has been a fixture in the Toronto club scene for almost a decade and probably one of the humblest deejays in the city considering his abilities and experience. He can be found doing various events that display his versatility and depth not only as a deejay but as a music-head. It’s these traits that lead to his joining the fold along with Max B, as part of the OTA Live roster with The Burn, a half-hour mixshow that holds no boundaries. Ask The Boogeyme’n what his vision is for music and he’ll tell you “To have people hear a house record and a Kanye or Dipset joint and be totally feeling them like they were the same thing…I think it sucks that the only house we can play has to be a classic or a known r&b record that happens to have a house remix”
