YOUTH ASSISTING YOUTH (YAY)
Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) is a non-profit charitable organization which is focused on building "special friendships" between "at risk" children aged 6 to 15 and youth volunteers aged 16 to 29. YAY's Youth Volunteers act as positive peer role models in the lives of young people by offering guidance, advice and support. For a child who is experiencing behavioral, social, emotional and / or cultural difficulties, having a friend to rely on and confide in makes all the difference in the world, toward breaking the cycle of violence. YMCA EMPLOYMENT AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
The YMCA is a charity that acts as a strong support system for people of all ages. Their youth employment and community services programs are geared to helping youth between the ages of 16 and 29. Youth can work one-on-one with their employment counselors to address their specific needs. The YMCA helps young people find jobs, access apprenticeship programs, write resumes and cover letters. The YMCA works with over 5,000 employers across the GTA. The Y offers free workshops on all sorts of topics all geared to helping young people get connected to a rewarding job or career direction. There are seven locations across the GTA and all centres have a free computer and employment resource centre where youth can access the internet, use computers and fax machines.
